HiFi Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) takes over where short read sequencing reaches its limitations. It helps researchers uncover complex genetic regions that were previously hard to analyze with short-read sequencing methods, such as repeat-rich regions or structural variations. We use PacBio’s HiFi long-read sequencing technology, which provides HiFi reads with 99.9% accuracy.
Unraveling the genome by generating HiFi reads
Long reads improve our understanding of complex genomes. The genomes of many living beings, particularly primates and humans, contain long, repetitive segments. Conventional short-read sequencing often requires computational approaches for genome assembly and variant detection, during which accuracy can decrease. Technologies known as third-generation sequencing can offer a solution: Longer read segments can provide a more accurate assembly of the genetic puzzle.
We perform third-generation sequencing using our PacBio platform. This platform generates HiFi reads up to 18kb in length to help us gain an accurate picture of the genetic information. That makes our HiFi Whole Genome Sequencing product a powerful tool for deeper insights into the genetic makeup.
