CeGaT Building Receives Multiple Architecture Awards

February 27, 2026

The new office and laboratory building of CeGaT in Tübingen has received three major recognitions in 2025: the Award for Exemplary Architecture, the GOOD DESIGN Award, and the Global Architecture Design Awards (GADA) Gold Award. For CeGaT, the new facility is more than an architectural project. It reflects our approach to combining strategic growth, operational excellence, and sustainability in one environment.

The extension brings together CeGaT offices and laboratories, the Zentrum für Humangenetik Tübingen, and the MVZ Tübingen under one roof. Medical practices, treatment rooms, laboratories, and offices are closely connected, enabling faster collaboration and efficient workflows across diagnostics, patient care, and research. The building was designed with sustainability as a core requirement. It uses recycled concrete and renewable raw materials and integrates geothermal and photovoltaic systems, contributing to a considerable reduction in CO2 emissions.

About the Awards

The Exemplary Building program, awarded by the Chamber of Architects of Baden-Württemberg, aims to raise awareness of building culture in everyday life. It recognizes projects that demonstrate high architectural quality in a real-life context and honors the joint commitment of architects and clients. Key criteria include functional and efficient structures, patient-oriented design, sustainability, quality of working and stay, and strong integration into the local environment.

The GOOD DESIGN Award, presented by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, is one of the oldest international design awards. It evaluates architecture, products, and concepts that combine design excellence, innovation, functionality, and future readiness. The focus is on design quality as a strategic factor, with less emphasis on regional context or societal impact.

The Global Architecture Design Awards (GADA) is an international competition that recognizes forward-looking and innovative architectural and design concepts. The Gold Award in the category Health-care Architecture highlights projects that combine functional excellence, sustainability, and user-centered design while contributing to future-oriented healthcare environments.
